Final Design Composition: Typography

Title

Initially I started by drawing a text box with the text tool, I changed the paragraph settings to align to the right as shown below.

I then typed in the title and adjusted the Vertical Scale to 120%which makes the text taller.

I then duplicated the text layer and hid the original as a backup.

I then rasterized the layer and selected the text with the quick select tool, I then applies a gradient to the selection.

I then made a mask from the selection which I used with the next image

To add some texture to the text I downloaded the following image from CG Textures

MetalGalvanized0022_7_S

After importing the image as a layer I changed the opacity to 47% and the layer type to Luminosity.

Back Cover

The top quote is written in Rockwelll with a font size of 24 and a font leading of 19 to close the gap between the horizontal lines of text

The body text is also Rockwell at standard 9pt text size.

The Limited Edition Exclusives were written in Rockwell and Aligned to the center, the bullet points were added manually by typing ALT + 0149.

The title was written in Sylfaen and has a red outer glow applied,

The banner text was written in Impact.

Small Print

I created a feature table in Adobe Illustrator then imported it into Photoshop, originally the font and outline were black, but after trying it I decided a white text and outline with a black background would be better.

The small text is for copyright information, the main font is univers and the copyright “C” is from Steel Tongs

The “Do not copy” logo comes from here, The black background was removed with the selection tool.

The 15 certificate was removed using the Elliptical Marquee Tool

Movie Font

The movie font was applied to the overall design rather than smart objects, I originally typed the text in a Word document for the easy formatting, pasted it in then altered the colour.
