Final Design Evaluation

My final design was much more complex than my mock-ups, and combined my favourite features from all of them.

Front Cover

I decided to go with a design that covered the whole front like on my third Mock-up, I think it turned out quite well but the colour could do with some adjustment, I also believe that the graffiti could have a greater texture quality, but other than them two points I am pleased, the brush tool gave a good effect on the fence which was made to be one of the main focal points of the image.other tools used on this image were masks. selection tools, context aware fill, clone stamp and adjustments.

I used a variety of selection tools to create this image, I used the magic wand to select the fence, this tool is good for selecting an area which is all one colour, i used the quick selection tool to select and remove the signs from there original image and place them into the new one.

I used the context aware fill tool to fill in the gap left by the fence and I think it did a reasonable job. I then used the context aware fill tool to remove the tracks from the image and automatically fill them with grass, I used the clone stamp tool with a small soft brush to tidy this effect.

The majority of the layers had saturation, brightness and contrast adjustments, the original source images were all from different areas with at different times of day and therefore under different lighting conditions, adjusting these layers was my attempt to make all the images look more natural together, as if the image was an original

The main text contrasts well with the background and looks to be the correct size, I believe it was a good choice of font as it can be used for different purposes and at different sizes and is still legible and distinctive. I think the text at the bottom looks good, mainly due to its degree of transparency

Spine

The spine only has a simple design, yet I believe it is distinctive enough to stand out it uses the same background image as the back cover and as the same brightness/contrast adjustment layer

Other than that there is a DVD logo from the Steel Tongs font, the same title as the one on the front cover (but with the text on the same line) and the crop circle logo I made on illustrator, I could have increased the stroke size on the exterior circles until it was visible but I decides not to.. The two logos 15 rating logos at the bottom were added differently. the red one was a bitmap I downloaded from the internet and, the blue one was a vector image I downloaded and imported from Illustrator. To remove the background from the bitmap I opened it in a separate file and used the elliptical marquee tool to select the logo. this tool is the best for selecting circular/rounded objects, I then inverted the selection and deleted the background, (these were also used on the back cover).

Back Cover

The back cover is my favourite part of this design as I think it is the most professional looking feature,

I think the typography works really well all together, the and the layer effects such as emboss and drop shadow work well in giving the shape layers some depth.

The brash tool was also really good for adjusting the mask on the layer. at the ends of the banner.
