DVD Label: Base Shapes and Division

 

I started by filling out the template and dividing it into 4,, the circles were created with the ellipse tool from the centre point of the guides, I then decided to divide the area into 4, this would allow me to do 4 different designs so I could use more tools, To make the To do this I drew another circle from the centre point, to the edge of the guide, to create the hole in the middle I drew another circle to the inner edge of the guide and used the “minus front” tool from the pathfinder menu, this deducts the front shape from the image.

I then drew a square covering the bottom half of the circle, and used the same minus front tool to remove it, I repeated the same process with the right of the shape leaving one quarter.

I then rotated each piece and moved them onto the template to make the full circle.

My initial plan was to have the logo in once corner, an image from a clipping mask in another corner, one corner with the title and a corner for small print.
